Daniel Warren: Alright friends, family, and fans, once again I'm Daniel Warren and we are back with another interview. Kind sir, please give these people the honor of knowing who you are.
Mitch Carter: I'm The $5 Dolla Thrilla, The Kamikaze Killa, and The Show Steala. "The Untouchable" Mitch Carter. But I'm cool with just Mitch.
Daniel Warren: Well Mitch, how are you doing today?
Mitch Carter: Tired. Don't feel like returning any phone calls tonight.
Daniel Warren: Sounds like you have ladies beating down the door to get at you. Now, let's get down to business. Have you always been a wrestling fan?
Mitch Carter: Humbly true. Actually I have not been a wrestling fan all the time. I started watching wrestling when I was around 12 years old. Since then, I was hooked and not only watched the current stuff, but naturally watched a lot of the older stuff too and did a lot of research on it as a younger teen.
Daniel Warren: What about wrestling hooked you in?
Mitch Carter: You want the truth?
Daniel Warren: Yes.
Mitch Carter: I honestly don't really know exactly why I got hooked. Something about it just intrigued me. Probably the mix of athleticism and storylines. It wasn't just 1 or the other. I think it was the 1998 era that was the reason I got hooked.
Daniel Warren: Well, was there one match that you saw and made you say, "I've got to do this?"
Mitch Carter: Heh, it was actually HBK vs. Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 98. Not the best match, but I was a 12 year old mark at the time and I thought HBK was awesome. Still do.
Daniel Warren: Is that who you model your style after?
Mitch Carter: Not really. I did however act like a dumb mark for writing "HBK" on my wrist tape in my ladder match. I mainly did it to pay homage to the guy. It was either him or Jeff Hardy or an unknown ladder match Indy wrestler.
Daniel Warren: I'm glad you mentioned the Ladder match. I interviewed two of the three other guys that were in the match, X Cal and Cade Sydal. Do you have a history with them?
Mitch Carter: Yep. X Cal and I wrestled in the backyards and a few times in the Indies. I've known him for nearly 5 years now. Cade Sydal and I have been in the ring a number of times.
Daniel Warren: Was that the first time you have all been in the ring at once?
Mitch Carter: Nope. It's been the 3rd time I believe.
Daniel Warren: Anything as brutal as that Ladder match?
Mitch Carter: Not really. That match kinda takes the cake. But Cade and I usually hurt each other in our matches. 1 match, he gave me a black eye so I kicked him in the stomach pretty hard. Apparently he couldn't eat well later.
Daniel Warren: Heh what was you mind state going into the Ladder Match?
Mitch Carter: Well, going into the ladder match, I was somewhat nervous. I knew it was going to be a really big match and possibly the biggest match of my Indy career so far. I really wanted to deliver with all the hype. It turned out to be a very good match and we all did a good job and kicked our game up a few notches and gave it our best. I'm proud of myself and the other 3 participants.
Daniel Warren: Which spot hurt the worse to you?
Mitch Carter: Hmmmmm. Probably taking a big bump off the ladder. Other spots should have been more painful, but for some reason, they weren't. The next day, I could walk. And my butt was hurting alot due to the leg drop over the ladder onto X Cal. But the stomach pains took the cake.
Daniel Warren: Which spot are you proud of, like this represents me.
Mitch Carter: All of them represent me. But my favorite 2 were probably the Christopher Daniels Moonsault onto Cade with a ladder on him and the Springboard Hart Attack I did to X Cal while he was standing on a ladder.
Daniel Warren: The BME on Cade was painful to look at, but you bounced up like it was nothing. Was this one of those matches where pain was just not an option?
Mitch Carter: Yep, in big matches like ladder matches, you go all out.
Daniel Warren: Now that you have wrestled a Ladder Match, is there any other match type that you would like to be in?
Mitch Carter: I've just been in that 1 ladder match so far. Another type of match that seems cool is a Cage match. But I don't think a light heavyweight in a cage match would make much sense. So to make an educated guess, I'd like to be in an inter-gender bra and panties match. Well, it would suck if she won.
Daniel Warren: Yes, you in a bra and panty match is a sight only someone in Neverland would want to see. Well we've talked about matches, is there any wrestler, Indy or not, that you would like to face in the ring?
Mitch Carter: I'm not really sure actually. You never know who will give you a good match. Some Indy worker in Arkansas could give you a better match than Chris Jericho. So really, I'm open to whomever.
Daniel Warren: This is true. Now, Mitch, I must ask this question. How do you think cruiser/lightweight style wrestlers are being treated in the sport today?
Mitch Carter: I don't watch much WWE or TNA or any other Indy now days. I watched Smackdown last Thursday for the 1st time in months and I didn't know half the people. So I couldn't really give you an intelligent answer.
Daniel Warren: Ok, then do you find it’s harder to get a gig as a smaller size wrestler?
Mitch Carter: Not anything locally. But hell yeah, when it comes to trying to get a WWE contract. That's why I'm just not even going to try to get a contract.
Daniel Warren: Do you feel that trying to get to the WWE is no longer a big dream to some of the guys on the Indy scene?
Mitch Carter: I'm not sure. I definitely don't see it in my future unless I totally give up my life to become a full time pro wrestler and be a nomad all over the US and barely make a living off of it for the next 5 or 10 years as well as getting on the juice and roiding myself up to be 220 lbs. I'm realistic and I know I probably won't make it to the WWE, so I plan on staying down south and try going to college to have a back-up plan in life and still be able to wrestle, just not wrestle in the WWE.
Daniel Warren: Now you said earlier you have wrestled in the backyard against X Cal. Do you have any views on the backyard-wrestling craze that has hit?
Mitch Carter: Kids still do that shit? All I can say is these kids need to stop taking that stuff so seriously because it is NOTHING like the pros. They also need to not have such egos and think their stuff is better than pro wrestling because it definitely is not.
Daniel Warren: Strong words. How do you feel about the surge in Internet smarks?
Mitch Carter: Same type of deal. They need to lower their egos; I'm actually cool with most smart marks in Oklahoma. So there's no beef and I'm not bangin the boss' daughter or calling myself "The Game". Some workers actually get marked out at the smart marks.
Daniel Warren: Whoa, did I just see a curveball being thrown or what. Do you feel guys like they tend to give wrestlers a big name by their actions?
Mitch Carter: I don't know, but people who feel "bullied" by people who observe their work and criticize them constructively need to just chill. There's no need to out talk a smart mark because no offense, but wrestlers are smarter than smart marks and the smart mark is paying to watch that wrestler. So why care? The worker isn't paying to watch the mark type on the computer.
Daniel Warren: You heard it here first. Now let's move on to a friendlier topic. Are their any upcoming shows or events that you want us to know about?
Mitch Carter: I'm not good with dates, but I do know that SRPW (home company) is running shows at the Indoor Fun Fair in Tulsa and at the Indoor Funfair in Oklahoma City. There is also a Wagoner Show in a few weeks. This Sunday on the 16th, SRPW is holding yet another show in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. I'll be at the shows at IZW in Lawton, Oklahoma on the weekend of either the 21st and 22nd or the 22nd and 23rd. IZW is running 2 shows back to back on that weekend.
Daniel Warren: Do you have a website?
Mitch Carter: Nah, just a Xanga website thingy. Just visit steelragepro.com
Daniel Warren: Now before I let you go, I'm gonna throw out some names and I want you to tell me the first thing that comes to your mind, ok?
Mitch Carter: Ah, the concluding name/word association.
Daniel Warren: But of course. Lets get started. Cade Sydal.
Mitch Carter: Has a heart shaped goatee.
Daniel Warren: X Cal.
Mitch Carter: A Mexican Indian African American. He's not Mexican though.
Daniel Warren: Dexter Hardaway.
Mitch Carter: HTK, the Hardtimes Kid.
Daniel Warren: SRPW.
Mitch Carter: Fun and happy.
Daniel Warren: Now last but not least, Mitch Carter.
Mitch Carter: Egotistically humble.
Daniel Warren: Wow, now that’s a new one. Well is there anything else you would like to say, oh humble one?
Mitch Carter: Don't cash in your pimp coin. That's the only thing I can think of now.
Daniel Warren: Well thank you kind sir. I’m Daniel Warren and that was the great, Mitch Carter and hope to see you guys next time and remember, "It's All For The Love."
Mitch Carter: No problem. It's actually all for the money.
