The Intricate Spectrum: Anatomy Of A Classic

What is a classic? What defines a classic? How do you achieve a classic?

These are all questions that have been asked to me before what is that gives you that special feeling about a match whats is that WOW factor well I'm going to try explain a classic match in relation to the human body.

Legs: This is what gives the body stability and it's the same in regards to wrestling the legs represent the build and what gives the match a starting place. A wrestling match is built from the ground up the storyline and reasons for the match giving it it's initially stance and the ability to stand it's ground. Without the legs generally a person will find it hard to get to where they want to go and what they want to achieves the legs are the same in relation to a wrestling match without the build and initial reasoning for the match it a lot of ways it lacks purpose which is a necessity in a classic.

Arms: The arms are used for reaching and grabbing this what a wrestling match needs to do it has to reach out to the audience and grab them. The series of morality plays that wrestling uses is to grab your emotion and make you feel part of the match. The ability to reach out and grab the audience makes the match that much more memorable and something that becomes timeless.

Body: The human body is what contains all the vitals such as organs, the body of a wrestling match serves the exact same purpose it what makes the match work. The body of the match is the base from which both the legs and arms work simply put it's the base. In the same was as organs make the human body work it's the body of a wrestling match that makes it work.

Head: Now this is the most important part the head contains the mind which in this case contains the psychology. The psychology and head or mind of a wrestling match is what dictates the pacing, the poise and simply put the timing. The psychology of a match is used to make the match believable it's what makes each move make sense and not just random. Simply put a wrestling match that contains good psychology makes logical sense.

Without each individual part of the body it simply doesn't function at it's full capabilities, A wrestling match is the same if you take out one component it takes away from the match & can simply make it die for lack of a better term.

Once again my top 20 countdown continues.

This week will feature one of my favorite feuds in the history of wrestling it features the two Canadian Chris's, The Calgary kids whatever you want to call them but each and every time they stepped foot in the ring we certainly saw a stellar match this being the stand out in my mind from theres series of fantastic mathes.

18.Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit (WWF Intercontinental Title, Ladder Match; Royal Rumble 2001): In my opinion the second best ladder match to ever take place this match had it all bumps, crisp moves & great psychology this match ranks among the greatest Intercontinental Title matches of all time. Rating: ****
