Welcome to another edition of Kay's Korner.
I have to ask, "What is Vince thinking?" After watching Raw's Diva Battle Royal, it's the only thing that has been on my mind ever since. I really would like to know the answer to that question and to be honest, I probably will never know the answer. Maybe that is for the best because I probably really wouldn't like the answer.
First off, for Victoria to be eliminated so quickly was like a slap in the face to her. She definitely has the most ring experience than the other Divas in the Battle Royal match. She really and truly is a very talented wrestler. Her finishing move, the Widow's Peak, is one of the most devistating moves that I have ever seen from a woman wrestler. Why she isn't really wrestling is just a total mystery to me. My heart breaks as I watch how the WWE is wasting the extremely talented Victoria.
Then again, it really should come as no surprise that things turned out the way that they did. (Anybody remember Wrestlemania XXI and Christy Hemme?) For Candice Michelle to win that Battle Royal was utterly insane! She is not ready for any match with anybody at all; let alone a chance at the WWE Women's Championship. I can not believe that the Women's Division is now definied by who is on the cover of Playboy magazine instead who actually have wrestling skills.
I'm really getting sick and tired of the Divas on Raw being treated as eye candy and nothing else. What is the point of having a legitimate Women's Championship if you don't have to have any wrestling skills to be champion? (Anybody out there remember the Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley reign?) I don't know what is going on in Vince's brain but it seems to me as though his thinking is thru another body part and it's definitely not his brain.
I know I sound harsh but I'm so tired of the Women's Division being treated like this. Trish Stratus is the Women's Champion and she is (in my mind) the most talented of the women WRESTLERS on Raw at the current time. (I'm sorry Vince but just because you are a Diva doesn't mean that you are automatically a wrestler.) I can't help but wonder how she feels about the way the Women's Division is being treated considering the fact that she sees how the WWE is treating the Women's Championship matches; without respect or any thought for the actual matches.
I try not to be so negative normally in my columns but with this particular subject, it's impossible for me to do that. In my mind, the Women's Division starting going downhill when Molly Holly decided to leave. As far as I am concerned, the WWE made a major mistake with letting the most talented female wrestler ever go without a fight. While I could speculate on why she left, I have decided not to. (She has released a shoot video called Shooting the Crap, for those interested in hearing it from the horse's mouth. I've not seen it but I heard that it's really an eye opener in a lot of ways.) I respect the fact that she left the wrestling world on her own terms. I am surprised that she stayed as long as she did considering how women wrestlers never really get to wrestle on Raw.
Does Vince really think that the Divas are nothing more than show candy? I have to say that I think the proof is in the way that the Women's Division has been treated in the last year alone. The matches are scarce and without meaning to a certain extent. The last really good women's feud that we had was Trish and Lita but that was blown out the water with Lita's knee injury and her personal involvement with Edge.
I'm so tired of the WWE treating the Divas this way. I really can't fault the Divas because let's face it; they work for Vince. The bottom line is you do what the boss tells you and when he tells you to do it. As much as I would like to tell them how much training the women (such as Ashley, Candice, and Torrie) would help things, I don't think that they would listen to me any way.
It appears to me that the Raw Divas are strictly there for Vince's entertainment and nothing else. It's really sad to see the Women's Division used this way. I wish they could see how talented the trained Divas are and use them to the best of their WRESTLING ability. I'm sorry but doing a sexy dance in a circle does NOT mean that you are a wrestler.
Well, that's it for this edition of Kay's Korner. I'm sure that there are several of you out there who feel the same way that I do about this subject. Then again, maybe not. It really doesn't matter because we all have our own opinions on the subject and I just gave you mine. Thanks for reading! All feedback can be sent to lilwrestlegrl@yahoo.com.
