Wow, it’s been a terribly surreal week for me. The good news is that my cousin is better, and it was only one clogged artery, which they did not need to fix with surgery. He is back home, and taking it easy. As for me, I have had one eventful week. But, I do not want to get into that, I have a highly important weekend column to write, with you, the fans, in mind. I have asked ten questions for people to respond to, and the response was overwhelming. I’m really happy to see it go off without a hitch, and I think I can pull it off again, in a few months. And now, I present to you, the first ever Fan Participation X-Factor, where you answer burning questions about BOM. I will post some of my favorite responses to each question, then give my own answer, all after I repost the question, of course.
Note: I’ve now decided to split this into two columns, as one would be too much. Check back Monday for Part Two!
1. If you could have a dream match, involving one currently active wrestler from WWE taking on a currently active wrestler from NWA, who would it be and why?
Vegasrollers wrote: I was just sitting back thinking really hard who i would want to be in a TNA vs WWE match and there were just so many to pick from. Paul London vs AJ Styles , The Wild cat vs JBL, Kane vs aybss(sp) but i think the one match i would pick that i would really want to see in a one on one match is Eddie G vs Jerry Lynn. I like how both of them work the ring, i think it would be a great match.
Chris Brown wrote: Rob Van Dam vs. AJ Styles
Xpunkgd86 wrote: Christopher Daniels vs. Shane "The Hurricane" Helms
Why? Because those are the two best wrestlers On both rosters, yet noone knows it...and they would show it with one match...
Rattle Snake wrote: my dream match would probably be Chris Jericho vs Aj Styles. Both of these guys are tremendous in the ring and i really think their styles would gel well in the ring. I would have picked Angle to go against Styles too, but kurt lacks a little bit of the cruiserweight element that Jericho posses.
Stewart Ward wrote: From NWA the Phenomonal A.J Styles v Mr.Thursday Night RVD of Smackdown! in a hardcore rules falls count anywhere match. This match would be awesome as they are both high flying daredevils and would complent each other by trying to outdo each other in death-defying spots.
Ice9x wrote: for the dream mania match i had hart vs. benoit vs. jericho. well, you did say one-on-one, and as i thought about it, i realized that a truly brilliant match would exclude jericho and pitt bret hart and chris benoit, the two masters of the sharpshooter, against one another...in a submission match. so there ya go. my final answer: Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit –
What I think: Many of you wrote AJ Styles versus Mysterio, RVD or Randy Orton, and those matches would truly be wrestling heaven. So, I’m going to try and take a different route. I think an awesome match would be Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit (like ice9x wrote), but make it an Iron Man match, and throw in two other guys. I say make it Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle vs. Christian. I think these guys all had/have nothing but talent, and would love to see them in the ring at once.
2. If one babyface would turn heel in the coming weeks on Raw or Smackdown, who would you like to see turn?
Mike Tyler wrote: Chris Jericho - he is so funny as a heel
Mike fischback wrote: Id like to see Undertaker go heel.As a face the Undertaker is just the same thing over and over again, the best thing about him at the moment is his enterance. When he formed the ministry of darkness i LOVED watching him.He was the perfect heel because he actually tricked your mind and made himself look like a complete ass. As a face I just dont feel anything dark from him.
Lmart wrote: A babyface that I could see turn heel on Raw or Smackdown would be none other than HBK
Xpunkgd wrote: Chris Benoit
Yeah, I said it, One of the top faces on Raw shouldn't be a face...He is a natural heel...And he should be that way forevar!!!
Shane-o wrote: I would turn Eddie Guerrero first and for most this would be a complete surprise, he could use the current situation that he has with his depression and what not and blame it on the fans. Eddie Guerrero makes a great heel and a great face so either way he is an a class performer, I would also like John Cena to turn back heel. I think that his raps and gimmick are just blame annoying now. It was better for Smackdown when he had the most “ris-kay” style.
What I think: A lot of fine choices. Many were the same, and I think my choice right now is Chris Benoit or Eddie Guerrero. I loved their runs as babyfaces, but I think heel turns could benefit them, now that it seems WWE is rebuilding their heels to make them stronger.
3. Same question, only who of the heels would you like to see turn babyface and why?
Chris brown wrote: Kurt Angle or HHH: they have played a Heel for to long
now,I think its time for them to go face, who knows it might bring in better ratings
R B wrote: I would turn Booker T. face. He had so much momentum as a face on Raw, then they took it all away when he went to Smackdown and they turned him heel. He is a natural face, and I would have thought Vince would recognize that from the last time they turned him face. The fans genuinely like Booker and just don't see him as a heel.
Andy Cliff wrote: Christian - Lets get the peeps on his side (like me) for once. I'd love
to see Captain Charisma with World Title.
Vignesh Vijayakumar wrote: HHH as a face would be wonderful for me. I have always been a fan of D-Generation X and HHH and HBK reuniting to form DX would be my dream come true. Although JBL as a babyface would be nice, I like JBL and as a heel, he comes off too weak.
BKGASW4ever1 wrote: Well...this is a little tough, but I would have to go with Ric Flair. That's right Flair...why? Like Orton said he's nothing but a HHH cheerleader. I would love to see him turn on HHH and be like the old "Nature Boy" for the last part of his career. I think it would go way over with the fans too!
Dwayne Nicholls wrote: Ric Flair, to become Randy Ortons mentor in a long chase for the title..!
What I think: Ric Flair really needs to turn face, I believe. How much longer does the man have left in him? At least spend your last bit of time wrestling as a face, and give the fans a hell of a show. I think this Nature Boy everyone talks of is truly blocked by his current role, and maybe I could respect him more as a face.
4. John Bradshaw Layfield and Triple H talk and play a good game, but there are others waiting in the wings. For one or both World Titles, who would you like to see become the next champion?
TheSic wrote: I would love for Y2J to become champion for Raw, and Booker T. to become champion for Smackdown.
Paolo Brighelli wrote: World = Benoit (Mr. X note: I loved this, because it’s so simple, yet so powerful. Benoit really was an awesome champion, and thanks to Paolo for that answer.)
Dwayne Nicholls wrote: Raw - 2 Months Time Batista, No more evolution, Triple H, Orton, Batista 3 way feud.. could be interesting i suppose, not much wrestling quality but o well!.. as for Smackdown - RVD, Paul London, Booker T, any would do and all could carry it, London needs more regocnition but what about the arrogant young gun angle, it works! and the other two are nearing their ends, needs a final push soon.
Sk84life18BB wrote: Chris Jericho on RAW is wayyyyyyyyy over due, im sure everyone who e mails you will say the same, or should. he has it all and I think is #1 face over anyone even if hes mid carding. On SD! it has to be Eddie, but hes been stressed out and i think the spot hes in is good. But funny enough, JBL is the best person to be champ right now but fighting hardcore holly isnt the best thing.
Maggottribe420 wrote: --Chris Jericho for the World Title, Paul London for the WWE Title...so they can have a Champ vs Champ match at WMXXI : Jericho vs London
Mike fischbach wrote: Id love to see Rob Van Dam become champion. When he was in ECW he DOMINATED! Now that he is in the WWE they just dont his him right and it
makes him looke too midcardish.
What I think: Lots of great choices, and some repetition on Booker T, Chris Jericho, and Chris Benoit. I would love to see any of these guys champion again, but for each respective brand, I would have to choose Randy Orton for Raw, simply because he’s an awesome talent, and I can’t wait for his return to the champion’s circle. On Smackdown, I would love to see Eddie Guerrero with the belt back. If it wasn’t for his stress issues, I think it could happen, but sadly I don’t think he would push for that to happen again.
5.WWE Title, World Title, US Title, Cruiserweight, Womens, IC, and Tag Team Titles. Boy, there are a lot of titles. But, if one more could be resurrected, in the place of one title being put to rest, which title would you like to see come back, and if you're up to it, which current title could it replace?
Chris Brown wrote: I would love to see the Hardcore title return to the WWE,the HC title brought alot to the WWE,you would never want to go to the bathroom during a match incase something broke out in back, those matches were glorious,i was a huge fan of the hardcore matches they had.I dont think it should replace any title.
Mike fischbach: I want to see the Hardcore Title come back into the WWE.The Hardcore matches made the company more then interesting when it was running around.Instead of replacing a title or being on one brand my idea is loveable :) I think the Hardcore Champion should have to worry about the 24/7 rule AND a new rule..a split brand rule. The title would be on both brands. With this going it could add more intrest when someone on RAW is having a match with the Title when out of nowhere RVD comes on beats them down and gets the title. Then they defend it on SD! and so on...
Russell Harbour wrote: Resurrect the Hardcore Title (with 24/7 rule but don't overuse it like WWE did last time) and if I had to take out a title....I say the US Title.
Kidrapture wrote: i would bring back the tv title and have replace the us title. no real diffrence, but i think the tv title is more realistic.
Eric X wrote: I don't think any title should come back unless they bring back the ECW Championships just to combine them with the current titles, then fine. What they should do is combine The World belts... again and also combine the Tag Team bets.
The Tag division is dying and legit teams are a rare commodity these days. They have bits and pieces of the puzzle scattered all over the place just bring them together already. This would also be a reasonable incentive to have two guys team try to win the gold together so that they can appear on both shows and make "more money" instead of just being thrown out there together for no reason (i.e. Gunn and Holly or Val Venis and anybody else really).
As for the Heavyweight title you only have a handful of ppl on each side that are seen as real contenders. With that said and even with the edition of Benoit and Eddie to the title scene, it will soon start to get reperative, that is if you feel it hasn't already. I know that originally there was only one champ for both shows but they dint handle it very well. This time they must and it can be pulled off if they insist on keeping the brand split.
To show he's a true champ or a cunning heel he will have to fend off all challenges from both sides. He can concentrate on his current opponent for the immediate PPV while slowly building up a match with his next rival on other show for their respective PPV. The champ could also be allowed to take his buddies with him on the other show (if they have any) like say HHH or JBL and there hommies. They would also be able to interact with others they normally would not be able to like Rey Mysterio confronting Triple H backstage.
As for the other belts like the Women's/Cruiserweight belt would be kept as exclusive brand belts while the U.S./Intercontinental Belt would be used to highlight the most popular/hated/talented wrestler on their brand that isn't currently the Heavyweight champ.
What I think: Hardcore title wins by a landslide. I think that’s an interesting idea, especially without that dreaded 24/7 rule. That was an absolute joke, and I hated it. I still love the idea of the Television Title resurrected. I never saw it defended, but it always sparked my interest, and should replace the US Title. What is the point of the US Title, without the European Title, Canadian title, etc. etc.?
Well, that does it for today. I thank those who have e-mailed me again, and if you don’t see any comments of yours yet, don’t worry. I’ll be back tomorrow with part 2 of my column, devoted to you, the fans. I’m Mr. X, saying this column is…
