Here we go again, more random topics that need to be discussed:
Let me get this straight; Teddy Long was GM of Smack Down and at the insistence of Krystal, he appointed Vicki Guerrero as his assistant. Teddy suffered a heart attack during his wedding to Krystal and Vicki became the acting GM in his place. Somehow, while he was out, she was elevated, not by Vince, but just by the fact that the wrestlers, er-r-r-r-r sports entertainers started referring to her as the GM. Then she gets hurt by the Undertaker and Teddy returns, only to find out that he is now the assistant GM and she is his boss. When did he actually lose his job? Did Vince think that he wasn’t ever coming back and felt the need to replace him? How could that be? Doesn’t Vince read the scripts beforehand? Anyway, now Teddy is pushing Vicki around in her wheelchair working for her. Such is the life of a GM under the WWE banner.
Okay, they needed to find an opponent for Chris Jericho that would make Jericho look good in his return match so they fed Jericho Santino Marella. Isn’t this the same Santino that has already been beaten by Ron Simmons and Jerry Lawler, two retired ex-wrestlers? Anyway, Jericho spent nearly 15 minutes in the ring with Santino before defeating him and was then handed a WWE Title match against Randy Orton. Then, to show how strong Jericho is, Santino was defeated in less than three minutes at the 15th Anniversary show by…RVD. True, RVD is talented and all, but RVD hasn’t had a wrestling match in several months either and he crushed the same Santino Marella that Jericho, the Number-One contender to the WWE Title, took nearly 15 minutes to defeat! Now doesn’t THAT make Jericho look weak? If not, maybe a program against a returning JBL might. Why even bring Jericho back if this is his fate. TNA should be looking real good to Chris right now.
First, Samoa Joe is complaining about Scott Hall not showing up for his match. Then Joe is complaining about the old guys taking up the spaces that the young guys deserve. And then, Joe is complaining about his contract so much so that he does not even want to fight the same Kurt Angle that he was willing to team with Kevin Nash in order to fight. This is the same Kevin Nash who was the recipient of Joe’s venom when Hall missed the show. Does any of this make sense to you? If so, send me an e-mail and explain it because this is some of the most convoluted booking that I have ever seen. The only thing that made sense was the fact that Hall’s missing the show was real because he actually was unable to appear.
Speaking of complaining, Chris Harris’ new gimmick is that of a person who is bitter about the fact that he, one of the TNA old guard, is constantly getting passed over in favor of former WWE talent, particularly Kurt and Karen Angle. Every time Chris is seen on television, which is seldom, he is complaining, saying that he should maybe change his name to “Angle” so that he can get more TV time. A good booker would have placed Chris Harris, since he wasn’t on the card anyway, in Scott Hall’s spot in the main event at Turning Point, had Chris win the match for his team, and then had Chris continue complaining that even though he won the match for his team, he would continue to be overlooked. Then Chris would continue his complaining gimmick even though he would continue to be booked against the top guys and in the top story lines. That would be good booking, but it appears that the wrestling business is devoid of good booking these days.
Lastly, if you want to get into the picture for the top titles in WWE, go away. Edge was hurt, came back, and within a few weeks, he is World Heavyweight Champion. Jericho has been away for almost two years, then he comes back and challenges for the top belt. John Morrison gets suspended for steroid use, comes back, and gets put into a title match against CM Punk. The Undertaker is never actually around, but he also never seems to be very far from the World Title. I suppose that when John Cena and Bobby Lashley return, they will get title shots immediately, as will Candice Michelle and Matt Hardy. However, Shawn Michaels and Triple H seem to be out of the title picture because they are healthy and haven’t though about quitting. Sucks for them.
