Well, the end of 2005 is just around the corner. In fact, depending on where you live, you might already be in the New Year. What does 2006 have in store for wrestling? Or should I say, what does wrestling have in store for 2006? That is hard to predict, especially for the WWE. Vince McMahon can go all over the map, as most of you already know. Sometimes his ideas are quite good ones. At other times, I have to scratch my head and say, “Just what the hell was he thinking?”
The Tim White suicide angle was definitely one of those moments for me, but I can’t only speak of story lines here. His choice of who stays and goes is also in question. He let Charlie Haas go (although I have read that he will be back), and I happened to think that he has a lot of ability. Haas leaves, the likes of Simon Dean stays. I don’t get it. McMahon is obviously fascinated with the big men, then brings Kid Kash, and most recently Sonny Siaki into the fold – hopefully, not to merely squash their careers. I think that Ken Kennedy was really on a roll when he got injured. Timing is everything, they say. Mark Henry is back – again. WHY? Oh yeah, he’s big. And other than eating worms and having a really weird persona, what good is The Boogeyman?
That said, there have been some really good shows throughout the year, many that I very much enjoyed. Most of the talent still gives their 100% each and every time out, and I respect that. They are pros and perform as such. Maybe I am too much of a softy, but when an athlete is working and the fans start chanting “Boring,” I feel badly for them. Somehow it just doesn’t seem right to me.
Then there is TNA, which I have really become a big fan of during the past year. Their talent pool has gotten deeper and deeper, and by then end of 2006 they will probably be doing shows on the road. I hope so, and I really believe that if things go their way they could rival WWE.
So I guess we just wait and see. I know that no matter how discouraged I get with the programming, I still buy the PPV’s, still watch and tape the shows, and still read from many websites. What goes down, will come up.
A very Happy New Year to all the readers who take the time to look at my work, and thanks to those of you who drop me notes frequently. I really enjoy and appreciate that.
Be safe and God Bless,
Viva la Raza,
Barb.
