T’was the night before Christmas,
And this makes year three
That Vince and HIS troops
Chose to bring Christmas glee,
To Afghanistan this time,
For we can’t forget
That to these men and women
We are in their debt.
So they made a few plans
(Maybe more than a few)
And altered their own course
To give them what they’re due.
And just for a short time
Some fun in the lives
Of those brave men and women,
Those husbands and wives.
You might ask who decided
To partake in this trek?
Just who would be willing,
Who’d stick out their neck?
Thanks Big Show!
Thanks Cena!
Thanks Foley and Michaels!
And Trish, HBK, Triple H and all others – they came here to fight,
In their own special way.
And they wouldn’t go home,
At the end of the day.
They stayed, they shook hands,
And they all posed for pics,
While all the time knowing
They were not there for kicks.
That this trip was special,
A once-a-year deal,
To help boast the morale
Of those spinning the wheel.
And when we look back
At those matches that day,
To try to remember
The winners, I say,
It just doesn’t matter.
Not even thaaaat much,
At whose hand was raised,
It was whom they could touch.
And for that they were winners,
This wrestling clan,
They did their job proudly,
Each woman and man.
They were being watched closely,
I am sure I am right!
They were being critiqued,
By a star that shines bright.
You know Eddie was smiling
Looking down from above,
And he took it all in,
He watched those that he loved.
Once again they had triumphed
And it was time to take flight.
So Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night!
It is with a sad heart that I remember my father, who passed away this Thursday, December 22. Love you, Dad!
